Born in South Bar, he was a son of the late Surdick and Mary (Digou) Quinn. Raymond was a member of St. Alphonsus Church, South Bar, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 12, Sydney. He was a member of the militia reserves for 30 years and retired from the Sydney Steel Corp. , open hearth department, after 40 years of service. Raymond's true passion was lobster fishing and he enjoyed his summers in Ben Eoin. Ray is survived by his wife, the former Frances Snow, South Bar; six children, Bernie (Phil), Greg (Paulette), Raylene and Darrell (Tammy), all of South Bar, Shelley (Ed) and Colleen, both of Ontario; three sisters, Flo, South Bar, Colleen, Sydney, and Delores, Montreal; and one brother, Leo, South Bar. Grampy is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Mark, Shauna, Amanda, Jillian, Madison, Quinn and Brody; three great-grandchildren, Damon, Micaela and Aurora. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Gerti, Thelma, Marion, three brothers, Adrian, Howie and Bernie. In accordance with Ray's wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 5, at 11 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Church, with Fr. Jim Attwood officiating with burial in the parish cemetery.
