The house is currently occupied by Robert Schumacher and Doreen Burke, both descendants of Edouard Bourque. Desire also built the house that his brother, Issac and his family lived in, which today is owned and occupied by William Carter and his wife Susan. Desire was unmarried and lived all his life in French Cove.1

Death*Firman Bourque died on 3 July 1959 at River Bourgeois, NS, Canada; River Bourgeois, July 3, 1959- The death of one of our oldest and finest gentlemen occurred here recently when Firmin Burke died at his home. Mr Burke, who was 85 years old, was the last surviving member of one of River Bourgeois' pioneer families. Me Burke was predeceased by his wife one and one half years ago, shortly after they had celebrated the 57th anniversary of their marriage. Of a quiet and unassuming manner, Mr. Burke was well and favourable known by citizens of River Bourgeois and vicinity. From a family of eight children, only two daughters, Josephine (Mrs. Carl Swift), of Westport and Beatrice (Mrs. Charlie Fougere), who made her home with him, and by whom he was tenderly cared for during the past many years, survive. One son, Walter, was frowned at New London many years ago, and another son, Abram, was killed in action during the Second World War. He is also survived by three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.2
